Our religion, Shiites, is one of the Islamic schools. "Shia" in the word means "follower", but in the term, it is said to be a school and a religion that follows the Ahl al-Bayt of the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, in all aspects of Islam, from belief, politics, culture, economy, religious matters and even He considers it obligatory and necessary in personal and social life. The term "Imam Shia" or "Twelve Imam Shia" refers to a group of Muslims who, after the martyrdom of the Prophet of Islam (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), Imam Ali (s.a) and his eleven infallible sons, consider him as Imam and his successor. The term "Shia" means the follower of Imam Ali (s.a) and the meaning of those who chose to follow him and expressed their love and devotion to him. It goes back to the Prophetic era. Because according to the hadiths that Sunni and Shia narrators have narrated from the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him), the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) called us Shiites and the fans and followers of Imam Ali (s.a) by this name. Our religion, Twelve Imam Shia or Ethna-Ashari Shia, is the largest branch of Shia religion. According to us Shiites, the leadership of society after the Prophet is the responsibility of the Imam and the Imam is appointed by God. Based on hadiths such as Ghadeer hadith, we consider Ali bin Abi Talib to be the successor of the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) and the first Imam. We believe in twelve imams and we know that the twelfth imam, Hazrat Mahdi, is alive and in occultation, and at the appointed time, he will rise to save the world from oppression and establish a government based on justice. The fundamental beliefs of our religion include monotheism, prophethood, resurrection, justice and imamate.
