Shia Muslims believe that there is an Imam who lives in concealment: Imam al-Mahdi (a.s.), the Imam of the Age. He is like the sun behind the clouds – we do not see him, but his light reaches us. One day, we believe, he will appear and fill the world with justice.
But waiting does not mean sitting still! When you wait for a dear guest, you tidy up, make everything nice and are kind. That is how we wait for the Imam: we are honest, help others, learn a lot and pray for him – for example with the supplication for the speedy relief (al-faraj).
What we learn: whoever waits becomes better – a little more every day.
